RHINOPLASTY
The nose is one of the most central portions of one’s
face. When somebody first looks at someone one of the
first things they notice is the nose. A large nose
that looks out of proportion to the rest of the facial
features can significantly alter one’s self image.
Because of this we see a number of our patients at
the Élan Plastic Surgery Group who
are not satisfied with the appearance of their nose.
We observe the internal and external components of
the nose to come up with a plan to yield the most natural
nose for a person. Our job is not to create the same
nose for every individual but to create a nose that
is congruent with your face. Each nose will look different
for each patient. We do a number of ethnic noses which
require further understanding of the very subtleties
that can be important to restore.
We perform the rhinoplasty procedure at Élan Plastic Surgery Group in our surgery center. The procedure
takes usually around 1-2 hours to perform. We use the
open approach for most of the rhinoplasties that are
complicated and require a tremendous amount of work
but we do perform closed rhinoplasty depending on the
extent of the problems that are present.
The pain and swelling lasts between 48-72 hours with
most of the bruising disappearing within the first
week. Rhinoplasty results are often not fully appreciated
for up to a year following surgery due to the persistent
swelling.
